High Performance Integrated Touch Screen POS Terminal
Toshiba TEC has leaped into the future with the design and technology of the ST-71 touch POS terminal, offering a POS Systems solution with high functionality and reliability for the hospitality and retail POS markets.
The ST-71 provides the flexibility of components required in today's world.
The ST-71 is ready for peripherals such as POS printers, customer displays and various input devices.
The ST-71 is equipped with a high performance processor and Front Side Bus (FSB) accelerating the response time, while it high-capacity memory of up to 2 GB reduces paging. These features help to minimize bottlenecks, resulting in improved customer throughput, reduced queues and potentially lower labor costs.
The ST-71 has been designed to be user-friendly with a 15-inch bright TFT screen. This screen provides a resolution of 1024 x 768 (XGA) and optimizes the graphical capability of the POS providing the operator with a larger display, reducing the number of operators errors and allowing more fast keys to be incorporated on the screen.
The optional magnetic card reader can be mounted on either side of the screen to optmize counter space where several terminals are used next ot each other.
An optional, fully intergrated and tiltable customer facing display screen is available which can be used to display advertising material.
The ST-71 has been developed on the same architecture as the proven ST-7000 series providing complete continuity between compact and modular solutions providing the flexibility for the customer to decide on the type of configuration required.
Flexible Design
The ST-71’s super bright TFT 15" screen optimizes the graphical capability of the POS providing the operator with a larger display, reducing the number of operator errors and allowing more fast keys to be incorporated on to the screen. And, the ST-71 offers various customer display options:
The ST-71 can have an Alpha Numeric Customer Display, with or without an extended pole, or an optional fully integrated and “tiltable” customer facing display screen is available which can be used to display advertising material.
High Reliability
The robust and rugged ST-71 has been designed for the most demanding hospitality and retail environments. Neither dirt nor foreign substances can bypass the rubber seal between the touch screen and front panel.
Water Resistant
Water Resistant, and tested against harmful substances such as oil, acids and dangerous fluids, the ST-71 is able to withstand harsh hospitality and other extreme operational environments.
Operation's Improvement
By taking advantage of the dual touch screen configuration, commercial video streaming can be on the customer display, as well as offering touch interaction between the customer and the operator. Optional I-button devices can be added for secure and quick transactions.

Right or Left
A magnetic card reader can be mounted on either side of the screen to optimize counter space when several terminals are used side by side, or to accommodate left handed operation.
Environmentally friendly
Naturally, the ST-71 has been designed to conform to RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment) preventing any dangerous materials from being leaked into the environment in the future, and reducing the need for costly disposal of hazardous materials.
It is possible to power on/off the ST-71 via the network using the ‘Wake on LAN’ function.

This eco-friendly feature enables data collection without leaving the power on overnight.
Easy Maintenance
For essential maintenance, a slide-out module concept enables key components to be quickly and easily exchanged, minimizing downtime.
Productive Operating Environment
The ST-71 is compatible with current Microsoft Windows and the certified Linux operating systems. Based on PC architecture, the ST-71 can run both off-the-shelf applications as well as customized POS software developed by Value Added Resellers, which is a significant factor in the POS environment.
Advance Connectivity
The ST-71 has highly developed & practical interfaces. The number of required cables is minimized by using LVDS, powered USB, and powered serial ports. To connect current peripherals, legacy interfaces are also provided. A compact flash slot is available that will allow for diskless operation and removable storage. A PC card slot is also supported for the system expansion.
Advance Connectivity
There are a wide variety of interfaces built into the ST-71 which include leading edge USB V2 (24V and 5V) and powered serial (5V and 12V) which reduces the need for external power adaptors. Also RS-232C serial ports for existing peripherals and 32-bit PCMCIA slot.
This advanced connectivity will ensure that the ST-71 will work, not only with existing peripherals, but those likely to be released in the future, essential for low total cost of ownership.
